What CONTRAVE is used forThe name of your medicine is CONTRAVE.It contains 2 active ingredients - bupropion hydrochloride and naltrexone hydrochloride.It is used in obese or overweight adults to manage weight together with a reduced calorie diet and physical exercise. This medicine works on areas on the brain involved in the control of food intake and energy use.Your doctor will review your treatment after 16 weeks, and you should only continue using CONTRAVE if you have lost at least 5% of your initial body weight.Ask your doctor if you have any questions about why CONTRAVE has been prescribed for you.If you have any concerns, discuss them with your doctor.This medicine is only available with a doctor's prescription.
CONTRAVE (naltrexone HCl/bupropion HCl) is an FDA-approved weight loss medicine that may help adults who struggle with obesity, or are overweight with at least one weight-related medical condition, to lose weight and keep it off. CONTRAVE should be used along with diet and exercise.
Use in ChildrenCONTRAVE is not recommended for use in children less than 18 years because it has not been adequately studied in these patients.
